Exmoor Shows

Exford Show on the 8th August is always one of my favourites. Although a fairly small and very rural event the horse classes are always very well supported and the quality is every bit as good as nay County show.
This year we just took Karen Ligthelm's Small Hunter Brood Mare Dancing Queen who is by our greatly missed stallion Prince Of Darkness. Her colt foal at foot is by our Hunter Pony stallion Woodvean Midnight Blue.
We were so pleased for Karen when the mare stood top of the line in the her class before landing the led hunter Championship. To our delight she later went on to add the Overall Supreme Championship to her tally. No mean achievement is such company.

The following week we loaded up at 5 AM in torrential rain and headed for Dunster Show.
This was the first outing for Langaller Sunbird owned by Doreen Hoare. This beautiful Yearling is by A Lot About Luey. We very seldom show yearlings feeling that the field is the best place for them at that stage. However this filly is an exception as she is very forward in maturity and isn't going through that lanky 'teenage' stage. Yet!! She accounted for herself very well, winning her Hack class and standing Reserve in the In-Hand Hack Championship. She behaved amazingly, took it all in her stride so lets hope for greater things to come.
Sadly Doreen was away at Dublin so the phone was busy!
Karen's Mare, Dancing Queen followed up her Exford success by winning the Small Hunter Broodmare Class. She then took the Small Hunter Breeding Championship and then again clinched the accolade of Broodmare Champion against mares from all the other sections. Again a very creditable win.
