Trip up't north!

Seemed like a good idea at the time! Yorkshire Sports Horses ran a stallion parade last weekend and we love our trips to Yorkshire and so I took Roly {Langaller Starring Role} and Newtown Pedro to show off what we have down south. Roly continues to wow us with his laid back attitude and is outstanding talent both in his natural movement and his jumping ability. He really is every inch a Eventer through and through. Pedro thrives on variety and so a weekend away was right up his street. He hunted on the Thursday before we left for Yorkshire on the Saturday. With weather warnings for snow, blizzards and icy winds we set forth with the unusual luxury of a co driver in Claire Keitch. I have known Claire for longer than I am prepared to figure out and in her former life as Claire Howarth Horse Transport she and I travelled many miles when I was a relief driver for her. I could certainly get used to having another HGV pilot! Lucy Loughton who produces and competes Roly came too and also rode Pedro. I could say plenty about a weekend in a lorry with a teenager and a woman of a certain age {!} but it was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also 'thank you' to dear old Volvo, 22 years old and never misses a beat. Roly, as ever, was foot perfect and won plenty of admirers and Pedro showed his versatility by jumping 1.10m with ease and a big smiley face to boot! Pictures are now on FB. Roly won his BE90 dressage on the 13th and schooled xc for the 1st time on a proper course and absolutely flew round. First run scheduled for Larkhill.
